Myths About Distilled Water
There are many myths floating around about the drinking distilled water and some people ask us, “is distilled water safe to drink?” Some believe distilled water is too acidic and others think it is devoid of useful minerals. Some think distilled water doesn’t taste good, while others think the only use of distilled water is to keep the iron or CPAP humidifier from getting clogged with minerals deposits. Our distilled water is 99.9% pure. Nearly all of the toxins, biological contaminants, and chemical contaminants are removed during the distillation process, which makes drinking distilled water safe. It is the simplicity of distillation, which mimics the hydrologic cycle, that makes it so effective. Regarding minerals, our bodies rely on fresh fruits and vegetables for mineral requirements. Minerals in water are poorly absorbed as they are inorganic and the body must work to eliminate the majority of them.
Distilled Water pH is around 7.0 – Neutral
With rare exception, freshly distilled water has a pH very near neutral, which is 7.0 on the pH scale. Solutions with a pH below 7.0 are considered to be acids and solutions with a pH above 7.0 are considered to be bases or alkaline. Claims made online, or anywhere else, that distilled water is very acidic are simply not true. This can be easily proven using pH test paper or a pH meter. It is true that when distilled water has been sitting around in an open container for a long period of time, that it will absorb some of the carbon dioxide from our atmosphere. This forms a very weak carbonic acid and will drop the pH slightly below its normal reading. Nevertheless, drinking distilled water, even with a lot of exposure to the atmosphere, is safe.m
Distilled Water is Not Acidic
Claims made online about distilled water being acidic or acidic water causing cancers are not based on scientific facts. The idea that drinking alkaline water will somehow get rid of cancer is untrue. It is much more likely that distilling tap water will remove carcinogenic compounds from the water. Your body does an excellent job of managing itself and the pH of all parts of the body. The various organs of a healthy body do an excellent job of managing the pH of all parts of the body. By drinking clean, toxin free, distilled water, you are providing your body with not only safe water, but the best water possible.
“The only type of water that seems to be fit for consumption is distilled water…Distillation is the single most effective method of water purification.” Peter A. Lodewick, M.D., A Diabetic Doctor Looks at Diabetes
Distilled Water Tastes Great
Some say the distilled water doesn’t taste good. People who say this are likely tasting the plastic bottle in which it is stored. Our distillers collect water in a glass jar to preserve the pure taste. Every distiller made in our factory is tested before we ship it out. Our machines use both filtration to remove VOC’s and distillation. AquaNui distillers provide water that is clear and refreshing to drink, without odor or bad taste.

Distilled Water Removes Toxins
Distilled water does not contain minerals. It is true that minerals are removed with the toxins and other unwanted parts of tap or well water through the distillation process. However, humans get their minerals through food, not water. One would have to drink over a hundred glasses of water a day to get the required amount of minerals needed to survive. We recommend that drinking distilled water be part of a healthy diet and lifestyle. If food does not provide enough minerals, supplementation may be recommended by your doctor.

6 Common Myths About Drinking Distilled Water
Myth #1 – Distilled Water is too expensive.
Fact: Distilled water is less expensive than bottled water and is much cleaner than water produced by filters alone or reverse osmosis.
Myth #2 – Distilled Water is too acidic and therefore dangerous to drink.
Fact: The pH of Distilled Water is essentially neutral. The idea that people’s bodies are too acidic and therefore one should drink alkaline water is not based on any real science. Our bodies do an amazing job of managing its own pH levels and if your pH levels were off somehow, it would be important to find the cause with the help of a doctor. Additionally, the minerals in alkaline water could build up in your body causing negative side effects. If one is really interested in drinking alkaline water, then adding a small amount of baking soda to your water is all that is necessary. There is no need for “alkalizing machines”.
Myth #3 – Distilled Water Systems take up too much space.
Fact: We produce distillers of every size that can fit in small apartments or RV’s to huge offices and apartments. Call us if you are trying to figure out how to fit one in your home. We have over 45 years of experience and know how.
Myth #4 – Distillation removes minerals from water.
Fact: Distillation removes contaminants which leaves you with 99.9% pure water. As many doctors will attest to, we get minerals from our diets or supplements if necessary. To meet the RDA of minerals you would have to drink hundreds of glasses of water a day and who knows what other toxins would be present? You’re better off getting the toxins out and adding trace minerals back in if needed.
Myth #5 – Distillation uses up too much energy.
Fact: Distillation uses up a modest amount of energy. The national average for 1 gallon is about 27 cents.
Myth #6 – Distilled water will leach minerals from your body.
Fact: Distilled water does not leach minerals from the body. The difference between distilled water and other water is that it is free from contamination. It is scientifically impossible for distilled water to pull nutrients out of cell walls. It does, however, help in the removal of cell waste from the body.
Distilled Water is Good for You
Some ask, “is drinking distilled water good for you”? Our answer is a resounding yes! Distilled water is pure water plain and simple. The health benefits of drinking distilled water are many. Imagine all of the bad chemicals that never get into your body. Think of all the potential biological organisms that need not be introduced into your digestive tract. Not all contaminants are man-made either. Some enter into the water supply via erosion. Make your tap water more safe by distilling it first. It is both healthy and refreshing and distilled water is safe to drink.
“If you decide on bottled water, make sure it’s distilled, (however), in the long run you’ll save money if you clean your water at home.” Dr. Robert D. Willix, Jr., M.D., Maximum Health
Distilled Water is Safe To Drink
There are no dangers associated with drinking distilled water. It is perfectly safe to drink distilled water because it is natural. There’s nothing more normal than harnessing the power of evaporation and condensation, which is how distilled water is made. Distilled water is used in many kinds of machines as a way to deter scale and buildup. It is also useful to remove foreign bodies. For example, CPAP machines, humidors, and automotive cooling systems and engines all use distilled water. Embassies and navy ships use distilled water for drinking. If the purpose of distilled water is to keep contaminants out and to make sure there’s no corrosion or buildup, it would make sense that this is indeed safe and the best kind of water for drinking.
